Envisioning a future with autonomous connected devices: helping  people every day

At Alegre Design, we don’t just design products; we forge experiences that transform lives. For us, robotics is about creating autonomous, connected devices that facilitate tasks and also enrich human interaction, elevating our everyday lives. When technology is committed to design and does so with the well-being of its future users in mind, the result is products that, in addition to advancing in innovation, take care of people, regardless of their abilities and characteristics, and make their lives easier.

‘Product with technology for people’ was the title of the intervention of Marcelo Alegre, at the Pecha Kucha event dedicated to “Technology, design and society” in which different designers took part, at Las Naves in Valencia. His contribution to this design night focused on the way in which, from our studio, we inspire change through innovation and design but always with the same objective: to improve people’s daily lives.

Every connected device we design extends human capabilities, making life easier and more intuitive. We create technology that assists, adapts, and enhances everyday experiences, turning tools into companions that inspire and connect. In his Pecha Kucha speech, Marcelo Alegre showcased how thoughtful design makes technology truly human-centric.

Julius TEC

One of them is Julius TEC, a universal and approachable shopping trolley that will define the future of automation in supermarkets. It is an ergonomic and functional product with a smooth aesthetic that, thanks to an identification chip, follow a specific shopper around the establishment.

This makes the shopping experience easier, more efficient and more pleasant for everyone. This autonomous connected device has been achieved through a series of detailed studies that have resulted in harmonious dimensions, which maximise the universality of the product, together with its intuitive design and the fact that it has its own lighting.

As a result of this accessibility, Julius TEC has been distinguished with a Positive Impact Award by the Comunidad Valenciana Designers Association (ADCV).

Autonomous shopping cart designed by Alegre Design for JuliusTEC. The cart features a sleek, modern design with a white base, black basket, and blue accent lighting. It is equipped with wheels for mobility and appears to be navigating a minimalistic indoor space. The design emphasizes functionality and advanced technology for an enhanced shopping experience.

MySphera Tag

On another note, MySphera was a step forward in the well-being of patients accessing hospitals for a variety of reasons. This user-centered bracelet, which combines the physical and digital worlds, allows healthcare staff to know at all times where a patient is and what treatment they are receiving at any given moment.

The anthropometric study developed by our team ensures that the bracelet guarantees comfort, connectivity and safety for all patients. In terms of design, we opted for a technically innovative, sealed thermoplastic capsule that adapts to the needs of patients in medical centres.

Ylum

This humanisation of autonomous connected devices encompasses a wide range of sectors, including electric mobility. The intuitive Ylum e-vehicle charging system, designed for people and to enhance functionality thanks to its clean lines, an inclined panel and its interactive lighting system. This differentiated and unique aesthetic allows the different product options to adapt to all types of spaces and installations.

To sum up, the autonomous connected devices we develop are more than just a taste of the future with today’s technology; they are a window into what could be. Our passion is to anticipate the future, to lead innovation and to lay the groundwork for a new coexistence between machines and humans.
